See, another disadvantage of growing up in the country (especially since it was just really suburbia without all the other houses). Although I can't see me getting up that early.

Great story so far. Look forward to part 2. I think a metal roof on a wooden shed would make more sense but perhaps Valkenberg was a bit of a glue sniffer.

Our experiences are remarkably similar, even the Grand Rapids connection.

After years of our cyber friendship (is that too strong a word?) it seems to me that the paper route may have been the apex of your working career.

Nice theme! I recall my first job was cleaning houses when I was in high school. A real eye-opener; if I ever get the urge to pull out my notebooks and write again, that is a wealth of ideas . . .
